Article 81(b) of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) requires that no more than two-thirds of any elective body shall be of the same gender. Yet, more than a decade later, this rule remains unimplemented.
For Nairobi, this means fewer women in county assembly, fewer women in Parliament, and fewer women's voices shaping the policies that affect our lives.
Full implementation of the two-thirds gender rule is not just a constitutional obligation — it is a moral one. As your Women Representative, I will be a tireous advocate for its full implementation.
