NAIROBI, KENYA — Nairobi Woman Representative aspirant Everlyne has announced her flagship youth and women innovation agenda: the Nairobi Tech-Moms and Nairobi Tech Vijanas programmes, anchored on ward-based innovation hubs across the county.
Unveiling the agenda at a gathering of young innovators, Everlyne stated that Nairobi's young people are not asking politicians to speak on their behalf forever — they are asking for opportunities to build their own futures.
"We do not want to prepare Nairobi's youth merely to look for jobs. We want to help prepare them to create opportunities," she said.
The proposed hubs will offer digital skills training, mentorship, access to devices and connectivity, enterprise development support and linkages to markets and financing. Priority groups include young mothers, informal traders transitioning online, and youth running micro-enterprises in the creative and digital economy.
The agenda also commits the office of the Woman Representative to champion county and national legislation that supports gig-worker protections, digital marketplace fairness and affordable broadband in informal settlements.
